Reinventing the Alumni Magazine for Georgia’s Largest Public University

Distributed quarterly to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners, Georgia State University Magazine serves a vast and diverse university community. But as the institution grew in scale, ambition, and national recognition, the publication’s format and visual language no longer reflected the energy or complexity of the university it represented.

The editorial team sought a comprehensive reinvention—from trim size and page count to storytelling approach—to better capture the evolving voice of Georgia State.

Solution

We led a complete redesign of the publication, reimagining its format, editorial hierarchy, typography, and visual system. Rich photography, thoughtful illustration, and dynamic layouts replaced the traditional alumni-magazine template with a contemporary, story-driven experience that reflects the university’s diversity and momentum.

Following the redesign, we partnered with the editorial team to design each quarterly issue for several years—ensuring consistency, editorial flexibility, and continued creative evolution.
