The Director of User Experience is responsible for the oversight and support of the user experience team. This includes resource management, leading projects, direct project support, individual support, personal growth and career pathway opportunities for individuals, quality assurance of output of work, and leading the setting of team and personal goals. The UX Director leads the team in developing and implementing effective research and discovery approaches, digital and content strategies, creative strategic concepts, tailored approaches, and collaborative efforts. It is the UX Director’s responsibility to ensure that the right people are doing the right things in the right ways, in order to execute the best quality work. 


  • Develop team structure that supports the level and type of work both current and incoming. (Future-proofing team for strategic growth)
  • Evolve and evaluate Research, UX, and Strategy offerings.
  • Lead hiring processes for additions to user experience team with support of SVPs.
  • Leading the facilitation of setting team-specific goals and ensuring those goals are met.
  • In tandem with the other directors, assist to scope and create hourly estimates of the SOW for projects.
  • Recommendations to new business language in proposals and pitches to stay updated, recent, and relevant to the way in which we work and the services we offer.
  • Facilitate definition of roles and strategic resourcing of ux practitioners on projects
  • Recommend and approve the use of outside vendors, 3rd parties, and freelancers for needs on the UX teams if and when necessary
  • Advocate for, celebrate, and champion direct reports in formal and informal ways.
  • Oversee onboarding process of new team members on UX team.
  • Participate in onboarding process of new team members on Digital team.

You Should Have

  • 7+ years of experience in user experience or content strategy (or related, just talk to us).
  • Proven ability to build and manage a team
  • Strong communication skills with an accessible outlook to be able to speak and present to a wide group of people, from end-users to CEOs.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills to provide lasting artifacts of your strategies and technical requirements for clients and teammates alike.
  • Strong ability to craft visual solutions for complex systems or site architecture.
  • Experience or interest writing project requirements and technical documentation for testing and development. Experience with content management systems is a plus.
  • Confidence in supporting multiple projects at once, with limited support from other strategists, across their duration and utilizing organization skills to ensure that the projects are delivered on time.
  • Openness and enthusiasm receiving and managing feedback and constructive critique from all members of the team and clients.
  • Figma, Google Analytics, GTM, and SEO knowledge is a plus.
